Many functions allow you create Adaptable Blotter Objects.
These are entities that you create - usually through Wizards - which you will re-use repeatedly.
Developers can create their own Adaptable Blotter Objects at design-time and then ship them with the system to users as Predefined Config. All Adaptable Blotter Objects are pure JSON and it is relatively straightforward to write them by hand.
This allows you easily to ship the product to users with many Adaptable Blotter Objects (e.g. Searches, Editing Rules, Layouts etc.) already created. Users will then have immediate access to all these objects, while being able to use the Blotter to create more as required (provided that their Permissions allows it).
All Adaptable Blotter Objects are viewable in a table in the relevant function Popup.
The table usually includes a New button in the top right hand corner which will open a Wizard, enabling you to create a new Adaptable Blotter Object.
At the end of each row are 3 buttons:
Edit - this will open the wizard for the current item and allow you to make changes. Predefined Adaptable Blotter Objects that have been set to be ReadOnly cannot be edited.
Delete - this will delete the Adaptable Blotter Object after first displaying a warning to the user. Predefined Adaptable Blotter Objects that have been set to be ReadOnly cannot be deleted.
If the Entitlement for the Function has been set to ReadOnly then Adaptable Blotter objects cannot be edited or deleted. See Permissions for more information.
Share - this allows you to upload the Adaptable Blotter Object to your sharing folder to be used by team members and colleagues. This saves time, reduces the amount of duplicated work, and helps to create a consistent experience. For more information, read Team Sharing.
The Team Sharing button will only be visible if Remote Configuration has been enabled. (For more information see User State)
All Adaptable Blotter Objects implement the AdaptableBlotterObject interface which has a single Uuid property that allows for easy identification of objects. You should NOT assign this property when supplying Predefined Config as the Adaptable Blotter will insert it on first read.
See Predefined Config for more information.
All Adaptable Blotter Objects are saved automatically through the User State persistence mechanisms. This state will be automatically reloaded when the Adaptable Blotter next starts.
